Volunteer Spotlight – Barbara Klocek

Barbara Klocek is a retired teacher from Brookdale Community College in New Jersey. There she taught reading skills and study skills classes to students with learning disabilities. She also tutored students one-on-one in numerous subjects and taught the Wilson Reading Method for Dyslexics to adults. After retiring, Barbara was a substitute teacher in her town in New Jersey. She primarily worked in the 6th grade autistic class, with the special needs preschool, or as an aid to special needs students. Earlier, she ran the Cub Scout Pack at the International School of Amsterdam and was an analyst in venture capital. Barbara has a B.S. in Psychology and an M.B.A. in finance.

Community Center lebanon nhWe are looking for fun, creative and enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about helping adults with special needs reach their goals and maximize their full potential while enhancing their social inclusion and integration into the community. You can make a big difference in someone’s life! You can be the key to lighting someone’s spark!

Would you like to teach a class? Are you available to participate in one of our planning committees? Would you like to help us man the Center and make sure all participants are having a quality experience when they visit us? We are actively recruiting volunteers for our Friday Fun Night Events when we provide a free dinner, along with some form of entertainment.   Are you interested in volunteering? Or do you belong to a community group or local business that promotes volunteering?  Spark’s Friday Fun Night events are fun and volunteering is easy! If you or your group has time between 5:00pm and 8:00pm on Fridays, we would love to have you as a friend of Spark!  We need 3-6 volunteers every Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Some typical duties include:

Setting up the dining room

Helping with finishing touches on dinner buffet

Assisting with meal service

Joining participants for dinner, conversation and fun!

Helping with after dinner clean up
